Q: How much does it cost to lift x?
A: There are many variables we must consider when selecting the appropriate crane for the pick. Among them are the weight of the item, special rigging requirements (multi-point picks, spreader beams), the radius from the center of the load to the center pivot of the crane, ground surface conditions, and so on. We will perform a job-site analysis at no cost to the customer before quoting a particular rate and crane.
Q: Why does it cost so much to move (mobilize) a crane?
A: Many cranes must be broken down into components in order to move them - even a 70 ton hydraulic rough terrain crane requires two semis (one for the crane, one for the counterweight). Larger lattice boom cranes have semi loads for counterweight, boom sections, and car body and track components. There is an immense amount of labor involved in mobilizing a crane - thus the large expense.
Q: How far in advance should I reserve a crane?
A: As soon as you know you have the job. We will work with you to adjust the actual arrival time of the crane onsite as the start date approaches, but most of our assets are 100% committed a week or two out.
